梳妝的維納斯 Awakening

The twisting contortion of the body is somewhat reminiscent of Meditation without Arms and the smoothness of the upper body shows similarities to another partial figure, The Prayer. The model for both the Awakening and Toilette of Venus may have been the dark-haired Italian Carmen Visconti of Fiesole, who had modeled for Rodin during a period of 13 years, including the early 1880's. In several press interviews, Carmen Visconti had recollected her model sessions for 'Eve', Also known as 《La Faunesse à Genoux》. This sculpture, taken from The Gates of Hell (where it is located in the tympanum, to the right of The Thinker) exudes an exceptional grace. Eroticism and ingenuousness radiate from its gentle yet powerful contours.
